This is a great story from npr - "Why Saying Is Believing — The Science Of Self-Talk" - and one that particularly applies to language learning.
I know someone who continously says that her ability in the language that I'm teaching her "SUCKS!."
I can't think of anything more SELF-DEFEATING for a language learner than that kind of self-talk.
This story should be a great help to her and others who get into the same habit of putting themselves down as they learn a language. The best is NO self-judgment at all. But if you have to judge your own language level ability, LET IT BE POSITIVE, please! Boost yourself UP. Don't put yourself down!
Have a listen! It's great psychology for ALL areas of life! ;-)
